ABOUT US

Terramax Entertainment is a multimedia company dedicated to preserving, celebrating and sharing the stories and achievements of Hispanic and Latino communities, with a special focus on Puerto Rican culture and history. Through award winning documentaries, films, books and original intellectual properties, Terramax explores the lasting influence of Hispanics in Hollywood, Latin music, politics, entertainment and American culture.

Founded by entertainment industry veterans Rafael Rivera Viruet and Marcelino “Max” Resto Jr., Terramax combines decades of experience in filmmaking, journalism, publishing, television, music and historical research. Its work brings important stories to life while creating educational and cultural resources for audiences around the world.

From documenting the history of salsa and Latino political empowerment to chronicling more than a century of Hispanics in Hollywood, Terramax Entertainment is committed to preserving cultural history, recognizing Hispanic achievement and introducing these stories to new generations.

Rafael has an extensive background in the entertainment business that combines finance, development, and producing of film, television, animation, music, theater, and publishing. He is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and a published author of the popular gift book celebrating 100 years of Latinos in Hollywood films.

 

His productions include the political documentary Politics Con Sabor, on the empowerment of Latinos in New York State from the 1920s into the 21st Century, produced for the historical archives of the Center for Puerto Rican Studies/Hunter College/CUNY. His music documentary on the history of salsa music has been broadcast on PBS, and in 2012 he produced the Off-Broadway musical: The Zombies: A Musical Spoof!

He has been writing a series of picture books: Dream Chaser… From the Hills of Puerto Rico to the Hollywood Hills. His latest Dream Chaser… “NUMBERS!... Is Everything “ was awarded the Best Biography in 2024 by the NABE.

Marcelino (Max) Resto, Jr.

 

Max is a prolific filmmaker and artist in traditional and new media. An entertainment journalist, newspaper editor, commentator as well as writer, producer, director of film and television programs. Author of several books, his works of fiction have appeared in three anthologies of contemporary Latino writers while his columns, reviews, interviews, comments and essays have been published in magazines, newspapers and Internet sites.

 

As Features Editor for The San Juan Star in Puerto Rico, he guided the newspaper's growth in the world of entertainment reporting. He was Film Commentator for the radio program En Otra Frecuencia on AM radio and for the TV show Hoy 940 on PBS affiliates WIPR and WIPM. His first theater project The Zombies: A Musical Spoof! made its debut Off-Broadway at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in NYC and is now in the catalogue of Dramatists Play Service, Inc., the leading publisher of American theatre in the world.
